How to find brands for barter collabs in Serbia (instead of waiting for them to find you)

Most creators wait for a DM that might never come. Here's how to take the initiative instead.

The fastest way to find brands for a barter collab: message them directly, work through an agency, or apply to offers already posted on a platform like bblogg — the third option saves you the most time, because you're applying to a specific, already-open offer instead of waiting to be noticed.

Most creators in Serbia hear about a collab one of two ways: someone messages them, or they wait for that to happen. The problem is that second option can take months — and in the meantime, dozens of brands in your own city are looking for exactly you and have no idea where to find you.

Why it's harder than it looks

When you go looking for a collab yourself, you usually have two options: message a brand directly (and hope someone reads it) or wait for an agency to reach out. Both depend on whether you're "visible" at the right moment — and the algorithm doesn't guarantee anything.

The reality is that small and mid-sized brands in Serbia often have neither the budget nor the time to search through profiles by hand. Instead, they use whatever channel saves them time — Facebook groups, recommendations, or platforms where offers already land in one place.

What to figure out before you start looking

Before you start reaching out to brands, it's worth clarifying three things for yourself:

  • What exactly you're offering — one Reel, a couple of Stories, or a full review? A concrete offer reads as more professional than "I'm interested in collaborating."
  • Who you're offering it to — a brand whose product you'd genuinely use, or already do. Audiences can tell the difference between an honest recommendation and an obvious ad.
  • What you expect in return — in a barter collab, that's a specific product or service, not "exposure" (exposure alone doesn't pay the bills, but barter works well as a first step while you build a portfolio of collabs).

Where to look, instead of waiting for a DM

  1. Direct to the brand — fastest, but a reply isn't guaranteed. Write personally, mention something specific about the brand, don't send the same text to 50 addresses.
  2. Through an agency — safer, but agencies usually pick bigger creators first.
  3. Through a matching platform — here the brand has already posted that it's looking for a creator, so you're applying to a specific, existing offer instead of shouting into the void.

That third option is the reason bblogg exists — a place where Serbian brands post barter offers and creators apply directly, with no middlemen and no waiting to be noticed first.

What to put in your first message

Whenever you're applying to an offer (anywhere), three things should always be there:

  • Who you are and what you do (in one sentence)
  • Why this brand specifically — one concrete reason, not a generic phrase
  • What exactly you're offering in return (format, number of posts, rough date)

Messages like "hi, I'm interested in collaborating" almost never get read all the way through. Being specific beats being enthusiastic.
