Why micro-influencers in Serbia have the content, the effort and the audience — and collabs still don't come

You have the content, the effort and the audience — and collabs still aren't coming. Here's why, and what actually helps.

The biggest problem for micro-influencers in Serbia isn't a lack of effort — it's being invisible. You put time into a post, the audience responds slowly, and the brands you'd love to reach simply don't know you exist.

The number of creators is growing faster than the number of visible opportunities

Serbia currently has over 16,000 registered Instagram creators and nearly 100,000 on TikTok, with audiences mostly in the region. That means competition for a brand's attention is higher than ever — while most small and mid-sized brands still search for creators by hand, through hashtags and recommendations, not through a system that would lead them straight to you.

The result: a creator with a good engagement rate and a relevant audience stays invisible simply because they never "crossed paths" with the right brand at the right moment.

Three concrete problems that keep coming up

1. You don't know who's currently looking for a collab. Without a platform that gathers active offers in one place, the only option is to wait for a DM or message brands blindly yourself, with no guarantee anyone reads it.

2. It's unclear what you can expect in return. Prices vary enormously — from a barter product to hundreds of euros per post — and without context it's hard to judge what a fair offer is for your niche and audience size.

3. Verification and trust cut both ways. Brands worry about fake accounts and bought followers, and creators worry about brands that don't follow through on what they agreed. Without a third place that at least partially guarantees the other side is real, both sides enter a collab with reservations.

What actually helps

  • Be specific about what you're offering — "1 Reel + 2 Stories, format X, deadline Y" lands better than "open to collabs"
  • Apply to active offers instead of waiting for a DM — brands that have already posted what they're looking for are more ready to respond than ones you contact blindly
  • Accept that barter makes sense while you're building a portfolio — even though most micro-influencers in the region eventually expect payment, a first barter collab is often the fastest way to get a real, first example of working with a brand, which later opens the door to paid offers

This last point is exactly why bblogg exists — a place where brands in Serbia post specific barter offers and creators apply directly, without waiting to be noticed first. For concrete steps, check out how to find brands instead of waiting for a DM.
